I don't think that is why Nolan played VH. Nolan plays because he's favoured by SA for keeping the players in line...

If any of Noble, Kouyate, Song or Downing is unavailable we are horribly thin on quality replacements. That's why Nolan has played.

We need another decent forward with pace (ie not Carroll or CFC) and the odd defender, then loads of decent midfielders.

It does solve the problem it a squad being 'the manager's squad, and they won't play for anyone else'.

Yeah, I remember reading about Tony Henry. On the one hand you can understand BFS position, hes the manager and wants to be in charge of transfers.

Problem is, his record in the market with us is patchy at best. Matt Jarvis for £10m anyone? Its not his fault Carroll got injured, but that has been a hell of an outlay per game for limited goals. I like Carroll, but just sayin'.

I'm not a fan of the DoF setup, but If the rumours are correct that DS made most of the summer signings then I'd rather he was in charge.

The OP is right, its ridiculous what BFS gets blamed for, and he does deserve credit for what he's done while here. We are having a decent season and have been unlucky in numerous games, not just last sunday. But he doesn't half undermine himself with some of his team selections, substitutions, suspect in transfer market, slating west ham way.

He's done well for us, but I'd let his contract run out in the summer and move onwards.

I know DS does the final negotiations because it is his money mainly I guess. But DS took on Tony Henry who has been refused access by SA to the training ground.

It just seems an 'impasse' that is in place and waiting for SA to leave come the summer. If SA does get a new contract it must surely be offered with Tony Henry as in charge of player recruitment or director of football.

Otherwise it seems a real waste to take him from Everton. I would guess that a lot of our buying decisions last summer were on the advice of Tony Henry who I believe was officially on garden leave from Everton at the time.

Weird to employ him, make a lot of sensible, successful acquisitions and then let him go because the manager doesn't want him...

Given that DS now does all the transfers himself, am I wrong in thinking BFS just gets a squad and gets told to win a few games with it, or does he have a large say in the matter?

Just asking, because if BFS' input is minimal the squad surely becomes transferable from manager to manager?

yeah we were. We had a great February - selective memory there A8?

We were fucked at Christmas, pulled clear in Feb, didn't do much after that.

It all depends how we round of the season. Pick up a decent amount of points in the run in then he'll have earned a new contract for a half-decent season.

Scape just a few wins and thank him for his time.

Next few months will show if we've made real progress or were just a flash in the pan.

How many managers have Spurs been through though?

And your comparisons are all with managers who had a fortune to spend - where failure is not qualifying for the champions league.

Haven't we been close enough to relegation enough times, with half-decent sides, to know that's a very real possibility for us?

That's not a risk. Rafa didn't manage in the premier league before hand neither did the guy at Spurs or Jose or Wenger or Ancelloti or or or.

It is a nonsense on stilts that they need to have premiership experience.Indeed Sam at one point didn't.

Please tell me how Sam is better than all of them?
